Self-Promotion A-Go-Go

Some recent article links, since none of you ever actually pick up the New Statesman as far as I know:

The Download - Kanye West
The Download - Don't Look Back (Lemonheads/B&S)
The Download - Grime/Dubstep
Edit: this week's column:
The Download - Sebastian Tellier & Europop

Unless you subscribe (for dollars), you can only look at one article per day or something, so you'll have to ration yourselves (ho ho ho).

Also, check Monday's MediaGuardian for a largely hagiographical piece by me about Plan B magazine. Edit: which is here, though only if you're registered, which only takes a minute.

nice christian metaphors in the Kanye edition. Did anyone happen to see that piece on Channel 4 about Christian hiphop and the power it wields in churches throughout America?
It really put 'Jesus Walks' into perspective for me. -a

funny thing about that one: after mentioning 'kanye west' at the beginning i referred to him as 'kanye' throughout, which they changed to 'west' throughout; the whole surname thing. seems a bit wrong, like referring to ice t as 't' in an article.

i'm still not sure i understand jesus walks: is it just a vague redemption song? i dunno how hardcore-christian 'west' really is.

Doesnt Kanye West have some kind of crazy delusion of grandeur or something? I thought he thought he had a mission from God or summat?
Anyroadup, its a great record. Daddio. JC

no (ooo). I didn't leave the house today. And I did contemplate it too. Adobe have me in their thrall. I look forward to reading your plan b piece very much though.

is that you miranda? i figure you're the only one with that much interest in the design of the guardian (apart from the others that've already posted on the thread down the page). the plan b piece is just, um, a news piece i guess, so it's hardly riveting stuff. but hello! i will be linking you.

re: kanye's delusions - the guardian headline said 'kanye west thinks he's god's gift to hip-hop. he is', which just about summed it up for me. i haven't seen an excess of braggadacio (sp.?), relative to his talent. if his mission from god is to make sexy, funky hip-hop that sounds super-fresh, then he is MOST RIGHTEOUS! can i get an amen?

registered and read. nice piece! my eyes brushed over a copy of the nme the other day, it made them sore: design reflects the content totalement.

need to find myself a copy of the new(est) plan b as it goes. rough trade always runs out.

you can borrow my copy of plan b if you like. only borrow it mind.

there's some great stuff in there, like the feminist response to crunk.
