Some of the most hardcore doublethink I've heard in a while, from the master himself:

"US President George W Bush has told Americans that Iraq is now a strong ally against terror and a force for democracy in the Middle East."

An ally *against* terror? Tell that to the civilians - currently somewhere between 27,477 and 30,989 of them according to Iraq Body Count - who have been killed since the war began.

"ally against terror" = hollow proxy administration that sends all intelligence to the CIA.

"force for democracy" = US air base.

he's right.

Gordon Brown has just got back from America. He met lots of high profile Republicans, including Senator Hilary Clinton.

He did not meet George W Bush.

Bush, thankfully, is not forever. We just need to pray he can't do much more damage before he goes.

But even Republican Senantors are refusing to renew the Patriot Act, so as they jostle for the nomination for 2008, hpefully Bush will weaken.
