'gwai as a kite

The Download time again - this fortnight on those Glasgee tykes Mogwai. Hope you like the felt tips metaphor: I think it had originally said 'a pack of dessicated felt tips', but I'll 'low that. People already have too much patience for my laboured extended metaphors.

PS - pleeeease, someone tell me they have 'got' the Jackson Pollock joke.

Was it a joke? I like blue poles, it's one of the ones I know the name of. It might be the backdrop to my parents' computer, although I can't really tell the difference. More of a Yves Klein myself.

Article was very good. Kaisar Chiefs are Rolf Harris if you want a metaphor.

keep guessing. you may have to have seen the film 'Pollock' with Ed Harris (quite mediocre, like most biopics), or just know a fair amount about the man.

anyone? anyone?

I have that film on video, never watched it. I also have a big book, never read it.

Scroll down two-thirds of the page to find my review of 'Pollock' from the Oxford Student, Oxford's second best weekly newspaper.

Then when you've read that you can scroll back up to read Heleina's (far superior) review of the first Harry Potter film.

Don't be harsh on yourself, both reviews were great in their own way. You weren't a fan clearly.

yay Meera!! you win my heart. i'm just relieved someone got it - Jackson Pollock died after he drove drunkenly into a tree ("the loneliness of innovation drove Pollock to an early death"). Heleina's response to my explanation was, approximately, "ugh", which seems about fair.

Meera, you also win a framed copy of the text message I wrote but somehow never sent to you explaining why I couldn't make it to your birthday do (sorry!).

And you win a drink, which I will buy for you sometime soon. :-)
